Transferring Your Map to Your GPS Device

Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1

Once installation of map is complete through downloaded .exe installer, open Mapsource on your computer.  Notice the pull down menu in the top left of your screen (red oval below).  Select your newly installed map from this menu.

Step 2

You will now see the title GPSTravelMaps—YOUR MAP—in the pull down tab and your new map in the viewable area of your screen.  You can pan and zoom through the map to see higher and lower levels of detail.

Step 3

To transfer the map to your GPS, you will need to select the map first using the MAP SELECT tool.  This will highlight the map pink, and display additional map information in the map tab on the left of your screen.  You will than select the “SEND TO GPS” button.

Step 4

You will see the following dialogue box, with you specific GPS information in it.  Make sure you have selected the maps option for what to send and click SEND.

NOTE: Garmin Nuvi and Streetpilot owners need to make sure that they transfer the map to an external memory card plugged into their expansion slot of the GPS unit.  Select the SD/MicroSD card from this dialogue box before sending map.

Step 5

You will see a transfer box giving you progress on you maps transfer to GPS.

Step 6

Once map was successfully sent, you will see a completion dialogue box. You can now use your new map in your GPS.

Step 7

Congratulations!  You have installed your map onto your computer and are now ready to view it in Mapsource Trip & Waypoint Manager and use it in your GPS!

You can check that the map is in your GPS by either panning & zooming to the region of interest, or checking the available maps in the map info section.  Nuvi units look like the below screenshot.
